Many terms are laid out to describe a journey to Africa – safari trip, safari tour, East Africa safari, southern Africa safari amongst others. Perhaps the more appropriate description might be “safari adventure” as there is no doubt the opportunity to visit this continent yields one of the few places left in the world to experience what our ancestors may have seen in the world of prolific fauna and flora.

What makes this safari adventure more enjoyable are the lengths taken by private landowners and individuals to bring a genuine local experience to foreign arrivals without requiring a compromise to safety or security. Sitting but a few feet away from a pride of lions and waiting patiently as a mother elephant and her calf walk by your vehicle within a trunk’s length do well support the idea of this experience being aptly coined a safari adventure. Yet none of these experiences are made available to interested parties without years of field work making evident what can be now easily be deemed as almost risk free experiences.

Yes, almost risk free. If it were completely risk free then how could this journey be called a safari adventure?
