David Maher is our International Student Travel Director, and he’s responsible for the success and impact of the Southern Sky Adventures experience for teachers and students journeying world-wide with us. David has been leading groups of students to distant destinations for over three decades, from urban capital cities to remote natural areas around the globe. Through his work as a teacher in North America, Europe, and Asia, an as an administrator and head of school, David brings his expertise in curriculum, experiential education, and risk management to the fieldwork being done globally through Southern Sky Adventures.

David first joined us after participating in one of our Teacher and Administrator Trips to South Africa, and experiencing first hand the beauty and opportunity of this incredible part of the world. With his extensive experience in U.S. independent schools, David is helping to spread the word about SSA’s expertise in crafting impactful educational experiences for school groups whether they are service based trips, experiential opportunities for real-world learning, or a combination of both. Having seen for many years the life-changing impact of global travel upon impressionable young travelers, he is excited to continue to support connecting students with the experience of a lifetime.
