Day 2

Originally a private retreat of the Brink family, Chitwa Chitwa has been in the Brink family for over 40 years and in 1991 was transformed into the private game lodge it is today. It now stands as a jewel of South African hospitality, an emblem of the savanna’s most authentic and refined luxury. Charl is dedicated to wise land management, aiming at preserving an African paradise for future generations.

Chitwa Chitwa earned its name as an affectionate ode to the aging giraffe bull who shared the lakeside home as an extended member of the Brink family. According to Charl, the majestic arrival of this regal relative was always signaled by the creaking of his old joints. Still today, his watchful essence is felt presiding over the lodge. Much like this giraffe, the lodge is magnificent and graceful in appearance, yet humble enough to evaporate into the surrounding beauty of the unspoiled bush of the Sabi Sand.

After its classic transformation into an eclectic blend of European style with African chic, Chitwa Chitwa has emerged as an exquisite balance between unbridled luxury and environmental harmony, an oasis of conservation.

Day 3

The most thrilling and eagerly anticipated part of any stay with us is undoubtedly the Chitwa Chitwa safari experience. For over a decade, our guests have been treated to spell binding sightings of our abundant wildlife on game drives and bush walks and have left with affectionate memories of the very best of the African bush. The experience is further enhanced by our desire to protect and sustain the local environment and improve the well being of our resident communities.

Located in the Sabi Sand which is the birthplace of sustainable wildlife tourism in southern Africa, Chitwa Chitwa is highly acclaimed for its excellent game viewing, as all hunting in the area has been abolished for decades. As a result, the animals have grown accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles in their territory and we can boast some of the best opportunities to meet Africa’s Big Five – being the five most dangerous animals to meet on foot: buffalo, elephant, rhino, leopard and lion. Our highly qualified guides and Shangaan trackers ensure an unforgettable African safari by enriching the experience with their profound knowledge regarding this animal kingdom and its complex habitat.

A detailed stroke saver takes golfers through the course, providing distance measurements and images that assist players with navigating the course’s extensive rises and falls.

Originally designed by Gary Player, Fancourt’s Montagu course has developed into one of the finest 18 hole parkland layouts, earning it the number 6 position on Golf Digest SA’s list of top golf courses in the country. The 40 hectares of undulating land on the lofty Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge had never been planted to vines before, but recognizing the vast potential, they set out with tenacity and determination to transform it into a model wine farm. Day 11

As the name implies, Pearl Valley's Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course truly bears the signature of the world’s preeminent golf course designer. Named the Best Conditioned golf course in the Western Cape for 2010, 2011, 2012/2013 and again for 2014/2015 by Golf Digest magazine. Since 2006 consistently ranked among the top ten courses in South Africa by Golf Digest magazine. Awarded the Five Star Experience Award by Complete Golfer for six consecutive years.

Stellenbosch is perhaps the most famous wine producing region in South Africa. The town, in Western Cape's Coastal Region, is steeped in history and is home to the country’s best known wine estates. Cabernet Sauvignon is the region’s most widely planted grape variety, and is often combined with Merlot to create Bordeaux Blend wines.

Vineyards cover the gently rolling hills of Stellenbosch, from Helderberg in the south to the lower slopes of Simonsberg Mountain in the north. This terrain allows for a lot of variation in wine styles, and mesoclimates suitable for the cultivation of all sorts of grape varieties can be found among the exposed hills and sheltered valleys.

The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop on, hop off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breath taking scenery, warm hospitality, world class cuisine, fine wines and a 300 year history.

Passengers aboard the hop on hop off tour will experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open side tram and open air tram/bus stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates.

A combination of tram and tram bus transports passengers around a loop of stops allowing them to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards and when they are ready, hop on to continue the tour.

Day 12

Set in the heart of the tranquil Constantia Winelands and surrounded by the Silvermine mountain range lies Steenberg Golf Club. Situated on the Steenberg Golf Estate, this 18 hole Peter Matkovich championship course is consistently regarded as one of the finest golf courses in Cape Town and South Africa. Near perfect conditioning all year round brings players back to try and conquer its many majestic holes over and over again.

The golf course boasts a state of the art clubhouse with all the necessary facilities and superb service that have elevated the whole package to a world class experience. The course and hotel recently got voted as the Best Golf Resort in the World Outside of the USA by Conde Naste Traveler and 2nd Best in the World overall. The practice facilities include a 350m double sided driving range, four practice greens and a practice pitching area. The on course PGA teaching professionals have at their disposal a world class video analysis room and also the only club adjustment center in the southern suburbs of Cape Town.

Over more than 100 years the golf course at Royal Cape has evolved into what it is today, a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course is in superb year round condition with well grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers.

Although the course is on flat terrain, the playing of Royal Cape is subject to three of nature’s beguiling offerings: a near constant wind to challenge you, sweeping mountain views to charm you and water features to ensnare you.

Royal Cape is without doubt one of the best and most challenging courses to play both in the Western Cape and the country. It is a course of championship stature, playing to a par of 72, which has hosted the SA Open ten times as well as many other professional and top amateur events. Winners at Royal Cape include Gary Player, Ernie Els, Mark McNulty and Trevor Immelman.

Tree lined with narrow fairways and subtle USGA spec built greens, Royal presents a traditional test of golf, although the numerous ponds and lakes teeming with bird life provide beauty and distraction along the way.

Day 13

Erinvale Golf Club played host to the World Cup of Golf held in 1996 (only a year after it’s official opening) as well as the SAA Open in both 2003 and 2004 and most recently hosted the South African Disabled Open. The golfing experience at Erinvale Golf Course is divided into two distinctly different nines. The first nine takes you through the flatter, residential part of the estate, while the back nine makes its way upwards on the slope of the Helderberg Mountains, allowing the golfer to enjoy beautiful sea and mountain views. If the challenge of a Gary Player designed 18 hole golf course, coupled with breath taking winelands, sea and mountains views is what you are looking for, then Erinvale Golf Course is the place to visit.

The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich (course architect for Leopard Rock, Arabella & Pinnacle Point among others) who made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy.

The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main challenges presented in the form of the water features on several holes, as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the Golf Estate and comes into play at various intervals.
